So how does it all work?
Obviously it will differ slightly from service to service and package to package but this should give you a pretty good idea of what you can expect when working with me.
First up – take a look at the content, copywriting and editorial services I offer.
Then you can choose how to buy:
- Off-the-peg: select a pre-packaged bundle of services*
- Tailor-made: we’ll build a bundle to suit you
- Pay-as-you-go: pre-purchase a bundle of hours and spend them as you need me
Time for a chat!
Even if you’re still not quite sure what you want or need, but you know you need my help, fill in my quick questionnaire and then let’s talk it through. I can meet you virtually via Skype or WhatsApp, or we can meet in person if you’re in Northern Ireland – whatever works for you.
This is a free, one-hour consultation and there’s no pressure – on either of us – to commit to anything at this stage. We’ll talk about your organisation, venture or project and I can go into a bit more detail about me and what I might be able to offer you.
If we’re a good fit and you want to go ahead, then I’ll create a proposal for you. This document – written in clear, plain English – will contain a project outline of your preferred / recommended package, plus a quote.
All good? Then you’ll sign it off, the document becomes our service level agreement (SLA) and you’ll pay your deposit or the balance of your PAYG hours bundle.
Once your deposit / PAYG payment is received, we’ll get stuck in! We’ve a project plan and timetable laid out, and now it’s time to dig into the detail so I can define your written voice.
Who is your audience and how can we grab and hold their attention? What language is best and what’s definitely not ‘you’?
When I’m fully fluent and informed, I’ll be able to craft content that finally finds those words you’ve been searching for.
A couple of days or afternoons ‘on the ground’ with you or your organisation can be really helpful for me to wrap my head around your work, your processes and systems, and your culture and ethos.
When we’re done, I’ll summarise it into a briefing document which is signed off by you and added to the SLA – so we’re literally on the same page about the topics and tone of what I’ll be writing for you.
The fun bit – time for me to whip out my quill and get to work! Whether it’s a one-off project (such as content for a website) or a monthly retainer (such as a blog or social media package), I deliver the individual units of content to you for approval or changes according to our agreed project timetable, unless we have agreed that approvals aren’t necessary.
